Sri Sri Yoga and effective relaxation techniques

The relaxation techniques seems strange, but that is the secret of their effectiveness. Letting free is the mantra.

Sri Sri Ravishankar is no strange name for common people. His smiling face can be seen across in posters promoting sri sri yoga (13-17 Nov at Delhi)or any other course. He has overwhelmed millions and is most prominent among current day spiritual gurus. Watching him, means watching a tremendous resolve to make a peaceful world. Whole of his effort is dedicated to free mankind from its worries, teach the techniques to handle daily pressures, bring peace and spread smile.

The cornerstones of his teachings are: to maintain innocence, to keep the child within alive and to celebrate and rejoice for being in present moment. These are his mantras to make a peaceful and worry free world.

By luck, I happen to participate in a few AOL courses. YES+ is most popular among college students and young professionals. One of the main objective of such courses is to teach and spread relaxation techniques. When I first came to encounter the techniques, I felt strange and awkward. Why? Because the techniques are actually strange and awkward. And thats the very reason they are effective.

Imagine jumping across restlessly and singing songs. Imitate and dramatize common things: An actress, a halwai or may be a TV! Make animal sounds. Laugh loudly. Even more strange, move across in animal fahion, get wild, clap, dance, do anything, allow whatever happens to your body! Be free!

Such activities are source of fun and laughter. Since everyone in the group knows what they are doing, the strangeness disappears for the group and it turns into fun. Do whatever you feel like. Just allow yourself to be! At the same time participants are advised not to do such activities while being with others who don't understand them. Do them with similar minded or do them alone.

In short, the relaxation techniques aim to free the body and mind by being in the present moment and bringing back the innocence within us.
